Get ready for a wild ride through the untamed beauty of Laos, where the roads are raw, the landscapes surreal, and every turn reveals a new adventure. This motorbike adventure tour is a perfectly balanced 50/50 mix of paved and remote back roads, designed to challenge your riding skills and ignite your spirit of exploration.
CBTT specializes in small, personalized motorcycle tours, giving you an intimate and immersive experience far from the tourist crowds. You’ll ride deep into the heart of Laos – the Last Frontier – a land of misty mountains, hidden trails, rich cultures, and breathtaking scenery that feels untouched by time.
This tour is crafted for true adventurers—riders who thrive on unpredictability, crave off-the-map journeys, and have an unshakable passion for two wheels. Whether you're powering through mountain passes or gliding through lush valleys, every mile tells a story.
Despite our best efforts to ensure comfort along the way, some of the areas we’ll be staying in are not for the faint of heart. There are no 5-star hotels or caviar breakfasts out here—just raw, real adventure. But what we may briefly lose in luxury, we more than gain in unforgettable life experiences. It’s a rare privilege to ride through these untouched regions—and there’s simply no other way to explore them.
We provide high-quality motorbikes, essential protective riding gear (helmet, jacket, gloves), and full support throughout the tour. Please note: we do not supply riding boots. While we may be able to help with some gear upon request, we strongly recommend bringing your own protective equipment, or letting us know in advance what you may need so we can try our best to organize it for you.
Don’t miss your chance to experience the ultimate Laos motorbike tour with Classic Bike Tour Thailand and as always :
DREAM DISCOVER RIDE
Day 1: From CBTT (Chiang Mai, Thailand) to Huay Xai (Laos)
Your journey begins with an early start from our base in Chiang Mai, cruising along smooth, scenic paved roads that trace the Thai side . The ride eases you in gently, offering wide views and winding stretches that build the excitement. As we approach the Lao border, the landscape begins to shift — and so does the energy. Ahead lies the unknown, the untamed, the final frontier. Welcome to the wild side of Southeast Asia.
Day 2: Huay Xai to Muang Long
We follow the Mekong River on the Lao side, diving into our first real taste of Laos’ dirt backroads. The paved roads begin to break apart, giving way to rough, dusty trails and unsealed sections that test your focus and reward your sense of adventure. Early in the day, we pass through a Chinese economic development zone that directly faces the Golden Triangle—a surreal landscape of wide boulevards, modern infrastructure, and sharp contrast to the rural wilderness that surrounds it. From there, it’s back into the raw heart of Laos.
Day 3: Muang Long to Luang Namtha
Today we ride into more remote mountain territory. The terrain becomes more rugged, the route more technical, with dirt highways, river crossings, and winding trails that will keep your skills sharp and senses alive. This is off-grid Laos, where few travelers venture and the connection to the land is raw and real.
Day 4: Luang Namtha to Mueang Xai (Oudomxay)
Expect a day of contrasts: fast stretches, tight turns, and some more challenging backroads paths cutting through misty valleys. This is the day to really enjoy your machine and lean into the rhythm of the road. Locals wave as we pass, and kids chase us down village paths—it’s impossible not to smile back.
Day 5: Mueang Xai to Nong Khiaw
One of the most scenic rides of the trip. We descend into a lush river valley, with limestone mountains towering on all sides. Nong Khiaw, a peaceful riverside town, awaits—a perfect blend of tranquility after a rewarding day’s ride.
Day 6: Rest day in Nong Khiaw
Nong Khiaw offers the perfect pause. Nestled along the banks of the Ou River and surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, this laid-back village is the soul of Northern Laos and a welcome break from the saddle. Riders can choose to hike up to a panoramic viewpoint at sunrise for one of the most breathtaking vistas in the region, or hire a kayak and paddle down the Ou River, gliding through majestic gorges carved into ancient stone. For those drawn to history, the area is home to Vietnam War-era caves once used as bomb shelters, with massive 500lb bomb craters still visible in the surrounding jungle. A peaceful river cruise is another great way to take in the landscape, or you can simply relax by the water, enjoy a Lao massage, and recharge with local food and cold drinks. Whether you're chasing adventure or embracing stillness, Nong Khiaw offers a moment to reset in one of Laos’ most scenic and soulful corners.
DAY 7: From Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang
We ride toward one of Laos’ most iconic cities. Along the way, expect beautiful stretches of mountain roads, rolling hills, and traditional villages. Luang Prabang welcomes us with its mix of ancient temples, French colonial charm, and the peaceful flow of the Mekong.
Day 8: Rest Day in Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang is the cultural jewel of Laos — the perfect place to slow down and soak it all in. Spend the day recharging with great food, riverside cafés, and the calm rhythm of this UNESCO World Heritage city. Stroll among golden temples, browse the vibrant night market, or visit the former Royal Palace for a glimpse into Laos’ rich past.
For those who want to stay active, an optional short ride takes us to the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls, a multi-tiered cascade of turquoise pools hidden in the jungle. It’s one of Laos’ most iconic natural wonders, and a perfect spot to swim, relax, or explore the nearby bear sanctuary.
Day 9: Luang Prabang to Pak Beng
We follow the Mekong’s twists and turns, with riding that flows between smooth sections and dirt road. The route is less traveled, with occasional ferry crossings and remote outposts. Tonight’s stay in Pak Beng, by the riverside, is a true frontier experience.
Day 10: Pak Beng to Huay Xai
A final taste of rural Laos—rolling through bamboo forests, passing more villages where life hasn’t changed in decades, and tackling a mix of surfaces that demand attention. You’ll feel the connection to every kilometer.
Day 11: Huay Xai to CBTT (Thailand)
We cross back into Thailand, reflecting on the incredible places we’ve been and the memories made. A sense of achievement rides with you as we return to base—changed by the journey.
